Introduction

Papa Roach's "Master Bay Tour" was a headlining tour that began immediately after their month-long "Anger Management" tour with Limp Bizkit, Xzibit, and Eminem. The tour started on November 25th and ended on December 22. Strong Out started as an opening band. (hed)pe joined to tour opening act the band on November 29th. Linkin Park eventually joined the tour on December 5th for the show in Ohio due to playing radio shows. Immediately after Linkin Park joined the tour, Strong Out was removed from the lineup.

The friendship between Linkin Park and Papa Roach dates back to October 2000, when they agreed Papa Roach at the "99X Big Day Out" event in Atlanta. Previously, Linkin Park had seen Papa Roach at a radio event called "KEDJ's That Damn Show" on September 23, 2000, in Arizona, but there was no contact between the bands.

Mike Shinoda had said that they saw Papa Roach's set in Arizona and thought they were amazing, but they weren't able to hang out with them. It wasn't until the Atlanta event that they started talking and formed a friendship.

When the two bands met again, Papa Roach saw Linkin Park perform, and Linkin Park saw Papa Roach perform. Mike Shinoda said; "They sat on stage for our performance, and of course we didn't they gave attention because everyone was trying to talk to Coby. It's a joke. But there were some girls up front yelling 'Coby! Coby!'. We were like 'okay ladies, we're trying to put on a show. Go to the side of the stage and do that' [laughs]. It's amazing. We just hung out and had a great time"
